Basic Character Info
Name: Ootsuki Takahiro
Alias(s): Taka
Village: previously Konoha
Rank: previously Jounin
Organization: unknown
Gender: male
Age: mid-thirties
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 155 lbs
Body Build: Somewhat lanky, but obviously not a twig; he wears mostly loose, comfortable clothing, but underneath that is the body of a fighter, toned and muscular enough. He tends to slouch and lean a lot, which takes away from his height and full build.
Eyes: Dark, dark blue, appearing black under normal lights. They always look very tired, bored, and unalert with dark circles under then, making him look as though he hasn't slept in several days, but in reality are always taking in everything around him, keeping him constantly aware of his surroundings at all times. Rumored to have had the best eyesite in Konoha without the aid of a bloodline limit, making him able to see at 20/1 acuity. Has a tendency to stare off at nothing or shut one eye when he's thinking or talking.
Hair: Dark red/burgandy in color, cut very close at the sides and getting slightly longer at the top; the longest part in the center is about three inches long and tends to spike forward to the right, hanging down onto his forehead. It's all very messy and rakish, increasing the image of laziness and lack of rest.
Clothing: Prefers function over fashion, choosing subdued, sturdy, and practical clothing over that flashy trash kids are running around in today. Wears a long, muted blue jacket split into two flaps on either hip below the waist down to below the knee and zipped up to just below the collarbone; has a high-ish collar and long, fitting sleeves (left sleeve is removed) with a three-fingered archery glove on the right hand and a leather bracer on the left forearm. Over this is an off-white vest resembling those of Kumogakure jounins', but modified with leather armoring on the left side. Thick belts are bucked over this, used to strap on the two large slings of arrow bolts hung diagonally over each other on his lower back; two utility pouches are attached to one of these belts (one of which is Nez's home), his katana to the other. Simple, loose brown pants bloused into athletic bandages; plain black shinobi sandals worn over bandaging. Has a small, faded red daypack on his back, which his bow is usually slung over easily; his old Konoha headband plate is tied onto one of the bag's straps.
Personality: Not very talkative, but not very silent, the word that seems to describe Takahiro best is mellow. Despite his age, he seems to be very aimless and slow upon first glance due to his child-like attention span, go-with-the-flow optimism, and usual disinterest in most things, making one wonder how he's managed to live this long as a shinobi. However, underneath all this, Taka is a lot more aloof than he usually lets on; even if it doesn't seem like he's listening, he's caught every word, plus that of the conversation behind you; yes, he knows the light bulb in the bathroom across the house just burnt out, he heard it; in simplest terms, he's ultra-aware of his environment because you'll never know when someone's literally gonna stab you in the back.
Possesses a subtle air of strength, warmth, and general understanding that could make him a very capable leader if it weren't for his odd aversion to meaningful relationships; while he doesn't seem adverse to people or socializing in general, he tends to freak out and turn tail whenever anyone tries to get to close to him in an emotional way (the only person who's overcome this since the beginning of this problem has been Nez, whom Taka doesn't count since she's a mouse =P). Often a harsh judge of people because of his distrustful nature nurtured by situations he's endured through his life, he's left a loner by choice despite his normally warm persona.
Additional Info (Appearance): Has a scar that runs through his brow to the corner of his left eye; there's a single staple-like stitch left in it over the eyebrow.
Random Info:
Birthday: December 18th
Likes: quiet places, kids, miso soup, sleep, Nez
Dislikes: overly loud, obnoxious, or whiny people, tofu, cats, cabbage
Character Background
Personal History: Was previously a shinobi for Konohagakure, as denoted by the plate worn on his bag strap. He fought during the war and was even put up as a possible for the position of Hokage for a short while before a large battle in which he was taken POW and, shortly after, declared dead. Obviously not the case, Takahiro still chose to take advantage of situation and did not return to the village when he inevitably escaped his captors. While he won't disclose his reasons entirely, he does state that there's nothing left for him there and he'd rather leave the past where it belongs, thank you very much.
Since his escape, he's spent his time wandering about the Western Continent, "taking in the sights" as he likes to put it. He seems to have no real purpose to be doing so, other than to do so.
Contrary to popular belief, Taka does have a friend. Somewhere along the way, he's picked up a small partner after accidentally dropping a bit of bread; Nez, a large Japanese field mouse, has taken up residence in one of Taka's belt pouches, often making her appearance on his shoulder or whenever it's mealtime. While she is just a mouse, she's usually the only one around for days to talk to, making her Taka's caring ear and shoulder to cry on (metaphorically speaking), and as such she's treated as equally as any human being they may encounter.
Family History: He was married and had a son, but has nothing more to say on the matter. Carries a photograph on his person that he can often be caught staring at when out and alone.
Combat Info
Chakra affinity: Fire
Specialty: Overall balance (proficient in all areas)
Regular Equipment/Weaponry: hunting bow, 2 slings of arrow bolts, long-handled katana, handful of shuriken, hunting knife
Scrolls: Trapwire field scroll, spare arrow bolts scrolls
Jutsus
Henge no Jutsu
"Transformation Technique" A very common and basic skill, it gives the user the appearance of another person or object. Mastering it is required to graduate from the ninja academy of Leaf Village (And presumably all other academies).
Bunshin no Jutsu
("Clone Technique") The Bunshin no Jutsu creates illusory duplicates of the user. It is impossible to tell which is the real ninja and which are illusions; clones generated by this technique, however, cannot attack anything as they are not physical beings.
Cancel
This jutsu utilises chakra and the user's willpower to overcome other Genjutsu. It seems that only Jounin-level ninjas and up are able to use it effectively.
Kawarimi no Jutsu
A substitution jutsu which involves switching the ninja's body for another object of the same weight, usually a piece of wood. This can create an opening to attack the enemy or to escape.
Shunshin no Jutsu
This jutsu is a high-speed movement technique, allowing a ninja to move short distances at an almost untraceable speed. To an observer, it appears as if the user has teleported. A puff of smoke is occasionally used to disguise the user's movements. It is accomplished by using chakra to temporarily boost the user's reflexes.
Sly Mind Affect Technique
This jutsu causes the enemy to walk around in circles for hours by making it seem as if they're walking straight to their desired destination. The enemy eventually becomes exhausted after traveling the same path over and over.
Genjutsu Shiranui
This jutsu causes the opponent to see six copies of the user that all detonate simultaneously.
Kage Bunshin
Leveled up shadow clone; these clones are able to fight and use techniques allowed by the amount of chakra put into them. After taking too much damage, they'll disappear.
Kokuangyo no Jutsu
This jutsu makes the target think that they are surrounded by total darkness, allowing the user to attack unseen. Although it negates sight, it does not stop the other senses.
Fire Release: Karyū Endan
This technique exhales a long stream of incredibly hot fire from the user's mouth like that of a flamethrower.
Fire Release: Great Fireball
Allows the user to blow out a large fireball. Power and size are determined by the amount of chakra put into it, and several can be shot consecutively.
Fire Release: Running Fire
Generates streams of fire that travel along the ground quickly to encircle and trap the enemy. The paths of the flames can be redirected as needed
Fire Release: Dragon Fire
Creates a stream of fire that will run along lengths of wire, rope, or faint traces of chakra (chakra wires, remnants of other ninjutsu, ect).
Fire Release: Bomb Clone
Like a regular kage buunshin, with the added fun of explosions. The clone can fight with the amount of chakra put into it, but once destroyed by the enemy with disappear in a small explosion.
Fire Release: Explosive Arrow Style
Using the special, meter-long chakra conducting arrow bolts he possesses, Taka is able to shoot what is literally an arrow bomb. With fire-release chakra channeled into them, the bolts are able to detonate into a moderately sized explosion, anywhere from a couple feet in diameter to 20 meters for a single normal bolt, depending on the chakra and technique used (when used in combination with regular fire-release techniques as a trigger, power can be more than doubled). Since these bolts are chakra conducting, they're useful for set-ups for other techniques as well.
Explosive Arrow Style: Detonation Shot
After being shot, the bolt will explode on contact with whatever it may touch first. Lowest level of this technique
Explosive Arrow Style: Delay Detonate
Creates a time lag in the time the arrow makes contact with something and the time it explodes. The higher level of this technique is Delay Release, utilizing a special hand seal to set off chains of detonations or even to stop an explosion entirely.
Explosive Arrow Style: Drainage
Used to sap energy from other undetonated arrows into a single bolt to create a massive explosion.
Explosive Arrow Style: Fight in the Shade
High speed technique of consecutively firing off several arrows simultaneously into the air, effectively creating a rain of death upon all those who stand underneath it. Can be combined with other Explosive Arrow Style techniques with enough effort, but more often than not is used to set up the field.
Explosive Arrow Style: Chain Bomber
Combining a trap wire scroll (or even lots of chakra wire) with 'Fight in the Shade', Taka's able to create a large network of connected bolts all leading back to a single bolt, the "main switch". Used in combination with a fire-release technique, it creates a massive chain of super explosions who's sheer force is effective even outside of the field of immediate effect.
Explosive Arrow Style: Sticky Bomb
Used in combination with 'Fight in the Shade', it leaves the bolts with a visible layer of red chakra. While these bolts won't be effected by impact with the surroundings, when brought into contact with a foreign chakra they'll detonate. Often used in a set-up for advantage in close combat.
Exploding Arrow Style: Amaterasu's Arrow
A single super arrow bolt. Such a large amount of chakra is poured into this technique that it creates a large aura of flame around it and takes several moments to prepare. The sheer devastation offered by it makes the effort well worth while as this bolt will fly further than any other (up to 10 km) and can have a immediate effect range of a full kilometer.
Fire Style- Fist of Iwayado
A close combat style Taka developed after the Hyuuga clan of Konoha. It entails expelling fire chakra from the energy nodes at the point of contact with another opponent to create a small funnel explosion that will scorch and knock back an opponent (ie, upon punching some mofo in the face, Taka will emit a small burst of concentrated chakra from the chakra nodes in his hand and the mofo's face will explode into fiery death).
Fist of Iwayado- Silken Chain of Ash
Emulating the Hyuuga's Gentle Fist style, Taka utilizes sheer speed and fluid grace to create a 19 attack combo utilizing the larger pools of energy in his body in each extremity (knuckles, heel of palm, back of hand, front elbow, back elbow, knee, toe, heel, Achilles tendon, and head) for a symmetrical chain attack that would leave any opponent a charred mess.
Fist of Iwayado- Phoenix Drop
By releasing chakra before making impact, large mass of flame is formed around whatever body part is used. With another burst of chakra from the same area, it expels the flame from the body, shooting it outward.
Fist of Iwayado- Shadow Double
Using speed, the target is struck twice in rapid succession, the speed of which creates a slight lag between the two explosions.
Fist of Iwayado- Sword of Darkened Days
Utilizing the same technique theory as when used hand to hand, the Iwayado sword style channels bursts of chakra through the sword and out the blade, making it capable of slinging large flame and explosion techniques or knocking the opponent off their center if used in a weapon-to-weapon fight. The sword itself is a long-handled katana with a fire-darkened blade wielded with two hands.
