"Conflict between the villages? Then those rumors about Konoha, Suna, and Kiri are true...?" He opened an eye, brows furrowing. Of course it was true. With that crazy bitch in charge...
Taka sighed, eyes growing sad and quiet once more.
"No, that doesn't even matter at the moment. I'd suggest raising this village's security further and making sure someone of ability is with the kid at all times. The other villages problems aren't something I care to deal with. That's your problem."

"Agreed." Kuma said, smiling slightly as he nodded. "I hate to impose, however...I would ask-k...if you would stay with the boy? Our village may provide some defense...but our stance may be unable to remain neutral as the k-konflict grows. The lok-kation of a village such as ours can not remain well hidden. Should we be dragged into the war, I fear that too easily would it be to lose sight of the boy amongst the details. He would be safer in a place...not so easily mark-ked on a map."
Kuma sat quietly, patiently, letting the other man think on it. Genji, meanwhile, found himself conflicted with his position. It seemed he could not avoid troubling others no matter what the outcome. He'd rather fight then hide...but he knew they wouldn't want to risk letting him get captured.

Taka closed his eyes again, pondering it. In his best judgment, he couldn't really say this was the best idea considering the situation... a situation he wasn't sure the other two were really fully aware of. Maybe it was for the best.
"....are you positive you want to trust me with this? I wouldn't particularly consider myself the most suitable; I'm completely foreign to this area, just met this kid, and really getting a bit too old for this stuff." He added the last part in an embarrassed mutter, shuffling his fingers through his scraggly hair. "I'm honestly surprised you'd ask, really..." =P

Kuma laughed heartily, shaking his head. "Dear friend, I believe you most suitable. For if you have grown too old for the job, I fear I should have retired ages ago." He smiled warmly, rubbing his chin as he gazed between the two of them. "The boy seems to trust you well enough...and for knowledge of the land, he knows well enough to suit you both. His safety here k-kannot be guaranteed for...various reasons. I believe it is for the best."
The elder man turned to Genji, smiling and nodding, testing for his approval. Genji nodded in return before he finally spoke.
"I can lead us through the lands with no problem. And I trust Taka-san." He stated firmly, no words wasted.

Takahiro looked at the boy, eyes somewhat surprised, then sad before he closed them again. A small smile forming on his lips.
"Jeez, all of you are crazy..." he muttered with a small chuckle, shaking his head. "But okay." He opened his eyes, smiling a bit more as he shrugged. "I won't get involved any further than this though. I'm not a general anymore, Kuma-san, it's not even my place to get in this much. I only do this 'cuz he's is a good kid and he doesn't deserve this."
He cocked his head, sighing softly. What a day.
"I do request a stay for the night though. Don't remember how nice a real bed feels after so long, so it'd be a nice little payment for my services." He stated matter-of-factly. It was becoming rather obvious that he wasn't one for touchy-feely moments.

Kuma nodded, giving a startlingly loud snap of his fingers, causing the doors to open at the hands of the guard from earlier. "A hot meal and warm beds for our guests." He noted, provoking a quick nod from the man, who scurried out the door to make the request happen.
"You may enjoy the best that I may offer you for the night. I will see too it that supplies are readied for you in the morning, that you may travel as swiftly and easily as possible."
Genji bowed his head in thanks before glancing over to his traveling companion. He hated to involve the man, but...he had felt that he could trust him from the start. If he had to travel with someone, there truly was no one else alive that he could think to turn to. There were so few left that he spoke to at all.

Takahiro nodded in appreciation as well, climbing to his feet and stretching.
"Gettin' too old to be gettin' up and down and climbin' mountains and fighting crazy sword ladies. Gonna throw hip out or somethin'..." He looked at the boy, smiling in a joking way like a father reassuring a child so they wouldn't worry. He looked back at Kuma; Gawd, that guy was still almost as tall as him sitting. What a beast. "Good luck with the coming battle, Kuma-san. I'd warn you against a couple of the others, but you're wise enough to be wary of that on your own..."
The door opened as he finished talking, a small teenage girl with carefully styled and dyed hair poking her head in.
"Everything's ready for our guests, Tsuchikage-sama." =D

Kuma nodded, giving a small wave (well, small to him at least; it could probably topple heads if needed), for the pair to follow. "Thank-k you for your warning. I shall have to be wary of this...scenario, indeed." He smiled, though one tinged with thought at the impending conflict. Meanwhile, Genji had stood as well, bowing to the Tsuchikage before turning to follow the stylish young woman out of the room.
"Take care, Tsuchikage-sama. Thank you for listening to us." He said respectfully before leaving, recieving a warm nod from the large man in response. He exited, ready for that meal and bed as soon as possible. They'd have quite a trip ahead of them starting tomorrow...

Taka gave one more wave to the kage before following after, watching the young girl watch Genji. He smiled slightly. How cute.
Things like this shouldn't happen to such good kids. He's still so young and can't even live like a normal kid...
